Environmental Health Practitioner
First District Health Unit is accepting applications for a full-time Environmental Health Practitioner (EHP). EHPs are responsible for enforcement of health and sanitation regulations regarding food, body art, lodging, swimming pools, tanning, solid & hazardous waste, septic systems, vector control, air quality, water quality, and other areas of environmental concern. The primary responsibility will be inspection and regulatory of licensed facilities. This position requires some Emergency Response Training and may involve cooperation with Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, as well as cross training in other areas.
The successful candidate must:
- have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Environmental Health Curriculum or in the Physical, Chemical or Biological sciences. Preference will be given to candidates with an emphasis in microbiology and/or prior experience in regulatory inspections.
- have a current driver’s license and possess their own vehicle. Considerable local travel may be required.
- have a current ND Environmental Health Practitioner license or able to obtain the license within 6 month of employment.
- take and pass the Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Registered Sanitarian exam within 3 years of hire.
Beginning Salary: $20.66/hr plus exceptional benefit package
