Environmental Health Practitioner
Full time position with a seven county Public Health District in Central ND. Responsible for enforcement of health and sanitation regulations regarding food, body art, lodging, swimming pools, tanning, solid & hazardous waste, septic systems, vector control, air quality, water quality, and other areas of environmental concern. Main responsibility will be inspection and regulatory of licensed facilities. Position may involve cooperation with Emergency Management Planner and requires some Emergency Response Training. Position will involve cross training in other areas. Successful candidate must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited Environmental Health Curriculum or in the Physical, Chemical or Biological sciences. Preference will be given to candidates with an emphasis in microbiology and/or prior experience in regulatory inspections.
Must have a current driver’s license and possess own vehicle. Considerable local travel may be required. Must have current ND Environmental Health Practitioner license or able to obtain license within 6 months of employment. Successful candidate must be able to take and pass the Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Registered Sanitarian exam within 3 years of hire. Must have enhanced computer knowledge and ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Salary Range: $40,288 - $ 58,836
