It is important for you to know which medical costs your plan will cover the day of your visit. Call your insurance company before every visit to check if you are covered.
Most insurance companies cover the cost of immunizations and preventive care visits. However, they may determine which provider you must use. If your policy requires you to use a preferred provider on their list, your services may not be covered at your clinic of choice. Even if your doctor is considered ‘in network’, he/she may not be your company’s preferred provider for vaccine or preventive care services.
THE BEST WAY TO FIND OUT IF YOU ARE COVERED IS BY MAKING THE CALL.
- Is my policy active?
- If I receive these services at First District Health Unit, will they be covered?
(For Example: Immunizations, TB testing, Annual Exams, Birth Control)
- Which CPT/Procedure Codes are considered covered for this type of visit?
- What are the names of the vaccines my benefits cover for my age/visit?
(For Example:If I receive my Shingrix vaccine (CPT code 90750) at First District Health Unit, will it be covered?)
Make sure you write down the information you received and review it with your provider at your appointment.
