Billing for immunizations

First District Health Unit (FDHU) reminds everyone covered by health insurance to bring your insurance information to each appointment for immunizations.  FDHU bills health insurance companies for vaccines given to adults and children.  You are encouraged to check your insurance policy to find out about vaccination benefits by calling the member service number on the back of your insurance card.  Insurance cards need to be presented every time for a vaccination.

In past years, First District Health Unit received vaccines from the ND Dept of Health.  Because the number of recommended vaccinations has increased & federal dollars have failed to keep pace, the ND Dept of Health can no longer cover the costs for vaccines.   First District now purchases vaccines and bills insurance companies.

The North Dakota Department of Health will still supply vaccines for children who are uninsured, American Indian, Medicaid eligible, or who have health insurance that doesn’t cover vaccinations.

One of the most important things parents can do to protect their children is to make sure they are vaccinated against serious but preventable diseases.  For more information contact the First District Health Unit office in your county. FDHU covers the following counties:  Bottineau, Burke, McHenry, McLean, Renville, Sheridan, & Ward.
